How to design 3D printed parts without learning CAD
Most people who own a 3D printer never design their own parts, because the standard advice is "learn Fusion 360," and that's a real time investment for someone who just needs a bracket.
Here's the thing the tutorials don't say: most functional prints are simple geometry with exact dimensions. A shelf bracket is an L with holes. A drawer knob is a cylinder on a cylinder. A storage box is a hollow rounded box. You don't need parametric CAD modeling to make those. You need a tool that speaks plain language and respects millimeters.
The plain-language approach
Ez3D is a free browser tool built around that idea. Instead of sketches, constraints, extrudes, and boolean operations, you get:
- Shapes you type sizes into. A box is a box: width, depth, height, in mm or inches. What you type is what prints, 1:1.

When you'd still want real CAD
Honesty matters here: if you're designing curved ergonomic enclosures, organic shapes, or assemblies with dozens of interlocking parts, learn Fusion 360 or FreeCAD; they're the right tools for that.
